StudyNow ("us", "we", or "our") operates the StudyNow mobile application (the "Service"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service and the choices you have associated with that data.

1. Information Collection and Use

We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our Service to you.

Types of Data Collected

• Personal Data: While using our Service, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you ("Personal Data"). This may include: Phone number, Username, Profile image, and Usage Data.
• Usage Data: When you access the Service, we may collect certain information automatically, including the type of mobile device you use, your mobile device unique ID, your mobile operating system, unique device identifiers, and other diagnostic data.
• Uploaded Content: Documents and text you upload for quiz generation are processed to provide the Service. This content is sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) for processing but is not used to train AI models.
• Quiz Data: Quizzes you create, your quiz results, scores, and study progress.

2. Use of Data

StudyNow uses the collected data for various purposes:

• To provide and maintain the Service
• To notify you about changes to our Service
• To allow you to participate in interactive features of our Service (e.g., Leaderboards, shared quizzes)
• To provide customer care and support
• To provide analysis or valuable information so that we can improve the Service
• To monitor the usage of the Service
• To detect, prevent and address technical issues
• To process subscription payments through Apple

3. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy.

4. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain data protection rights:

• Right to Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Right to Rectification: You can request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Right to Erasure: You can request that we delete your personal data. See "How to Delete Your Data" below.
• Right to Restrict Processing: You can request that we limit how we use your data.
• Right to Data Portability: You can request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.
• Right to Object: You can object to our processing of your personal data.
• Right to Withdraw Consent: Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

How to Delete Your Data

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time:

• In-App: Go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account
• Email: Send a request to noah@mord.no with your username or phone number

Upon deletion, we will remove your profile information, quizzes, results, and leaderboard entries. Some anonymized data may be retained for analytics purposes.

5. Children's Privacy

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at noah@mord.no. We will take steps to delete such information from our servers.

For users between 13 and 18 years of age, we recommend parental supervision and encourage parents to review this Privacy Policy with their children.

6. Transfer of Data

Your information, including Personal Data, may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ than those from your jurisdiction.

If you are located outside of the United States and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data, including Personal Data, to the United States and process it there.

StudyNow will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy, including using appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

7. Service Providers

We may employ third party companies and individuals to facilitate our Service ("Service Providers"). These third parties have access to your Personal Data only to perform tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

Our Service Providers

• Google Firebase: We use Firebase for authentication, database, hosting, and analytics. Firebase Privacy Policy
• OpenAI: We use OpenAI's API to generate quiz questions from your uploaded content. Content is processed according to OpenAI's Privacy Policy. API data is not used for training.
• Apple: Subscription payments are processed through Apple's App Store. Apple Privacy Policy

8. Security of Data

The security of your data is important to us. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data, including:

• Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
• Secure authentication via Firebase Authentication
• Access controls limiting who can access personal data
• Regular security assessments

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.

You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
